Located less than three blocks from Carilion Children’s Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia, the Ronald McDonald House cares for 700 families a year on average. The House provides much more than the comforts of home for families who must stay at Carilion Children's Hospital during such a difficult time. The House allows families an opportunity to meet other guests, experiencing similar situations, and share thoughts and information. The support system formed by families staying at the Ronald McDonald House is an invaluable resource.
Our Cooking Members
On March 15, 2023, a few of our members had the privilege of cooking for the children's family members who stay at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia. They prepared meatloaf, green beans with garlic butter, seasoned roasted potatoes, bread rolls and a delicious apple cobbler for dessert.
Focusing on What's Important
When a family has a sick child, the last thing they need to worry about is where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will rest their head at night. The Ronald McDonald House allows families to focus on what’s most important, getting their child better.
Families staying at the House are asked to make a donation of $15 per night, but no one is ever turned away for an inability to pay.
